A documentary telling the fascinating story of the GAA GPA All-Stars Awards, which were set up five decades ago in 1971 and are still going strong, was broadcast on RTE on Weds 29th December 2021. All-Star Gazing authors Moira Dunne & Eileen Dunne were interviewed for the programme along with legendary All-Stars Galway’s Joe Connolly, Tyrone’s Peter Canavan, Kilkenny’s Tommy Walsh and dual All-Star, Offaly’s Liam Currams. The documentary is still available to view on the RTE Player at this link
The Dunne sisters spoke about the chance discovery of a treasure trove of All-Star records belonging to their father Mick Dunne, RTE’s GAA correspondent and one of the founders of the All-Star scheme in 1971. This discovery led to the writing of All-Star Gazing, the book that tells the 50 years history of the scheme, which was released in November 2021. The book is available to purchase online here.
